How An Acne Laser Can Help You With Your Acne

An acne laser can do much more now days than what it could previously do. While traditionally acne lasers were only used to remove scarring after acne had been cleared up, now you can also undergo acne laser surgery to prevent acne from happening in the first place.

Laser surgery for acne targets the root of the acne problems: the follicle where the hair grows, the sebaceous sac that produces sebum (oil), and the bacteria itself. The follicle can be targeted by a laser for acne and burned away. Without a follicle sac, then the follicle can obviously not get clogged by sebum or dead skin cells anymore. The acne laser is also used to either burn or at least shrink the sebaceous gland, thus preventing the sebum from being produced. Without the sebum oil, then bacteria will not even be a problem (when sebum gets infected by bacteria is when the pimple-forming process begins).

As you can see, there is a lot of promise and hope associated with laser treatments for acne. However, remember that this procedure is relatively new and has not undergone the same scientific rigors that other acne treatments have. That being said, the acne laser procedure has been approved by the FDA for several companies, which means you can feel safe and should be able to find out all the information necessary to make a wise consumer choice.

The other way an acne laser is generally used is after your acne is going and only a scar remains. Acne scar laser removal has proven to be an effective method to help get your skin back (at least partway) to where it was before by reducing scarring. The Acne scar laser procedure is fairly intense, however, and should not be taken lightly.

Acne Lasers that are used to treat scarring is done much in the same way that fine lines and wrinkles are treated with lasers. The goal of such surgery is to increase the growth of collagen which will help repair the scars from the inside out, and do so naturally.

Remember, before considering any acne laser techniques described in this post and site, be sure to talk with your doctor. These procedures are costly, and can have lasting results, and decisions regarding these procedures need to be made with advice of a license professional.
