Home Remedies For Acne
There are several factors that contribute to the development of acne:
1. Genes. Unfortunately, this is one factor that you cannot get away from. Some people are lucky, while others just aren’t.
2. Increase hormonal activity. This is one main reason why teenagers generally are the most common group searching for a home remedy for acne.
3. Stress. Increased stress is a factor in causing acne to flair up
4. Increase in the amount of dead skin cells.
5. Use of steroids, amphetamines, or other drugs.
6. Inflammation or other skin irritations.
7. Bad eating habits, especially of high-glycemic foods (think simple carbohydrates).
8. Some studies have also showed a link between eating partially skimmed milk, cottage cheese, and breakfast drinks and acne.
There are also some common myths that ARE NOT factors in the development of acne, with the main one bein that chocolate in itself (pure form) does not in fact increase the likelihood of pimples (although bad eating habits do – see above)
So, now that you have a basic understand about acne, you can more easily understand the home remedies for acne treatment.
Frankly, possibly the best home remedies for curing acne are also the simplest:
1. Wash your face regularly. If your face is not clean, then you will have two problems. One, you will have dirty oil accumulating on your skin. Such accumulations will help block your pores and thus help acne develop. Second, you will have dead skin cells build up. By washing your face regularly you will remove this oil and the dead skin cells. However, (and this is one of the most important homeopathic remedies for curing acne) you should try to find a soap that has a balancing or neutral pH. Your skin’s slightly acidic pH actually helps reduce the spread and growth of acne bacteria. Use of an alkaline cleanser is detrimental to this.
2. Eat well. While this may not be the easiest home remedy for acne to follow, it is very important (and not just for skin reasons but for overall health reasons). Foods that are highly glycemic have been shown to increase acne. These are foods that are based on simple carbohydrates and sugars. Also, try not eating much dairy products. Initial studies have shown a link between certain dairy products and acne.
3. Don’t pop or irritate your pimples. While this makes it easier to cover them up with makeup, this will only irritate your skin more—possibly causing more acne to develop and also have the negative side effect of possible scarring, leaving you to then search for home remedies for acne scars as well.
There are also other at home remedies for acne scars that you could try if you have problems with acne that can not be cleared up by simply washing your face and eating healthy. Tea Tree oil and Zinc are two of the most common home remedies for acne treatments, and can be quite effective. However, be sure that you use them in proper quantities and that you discuss their usage with a dermatologist before using them.
