How To Get Rid Of Bad Acne

If you struggle with bad acne, then take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. In fact, over 89% of people struggle with acne during some point in their life.

How To Cure Bad Acne:

Really bad acne can take many different forms, from whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples, to more serious cystic acne. However, what is most important is how to get rid of really bad acne. Below are some tips and ideas for bad acne treatment.

Prevention Is Key

First, one of the most important ways to cure bad acne is to prevent it from becoming bad in the first place. While this can be difficult, there are a few simple, easy tricks to follow that will help greatly in your fight against acne.

• Wash your face, neck, back and shoulders twice a day. Do this morning and night, right before you go to sleep so you can make sure you get as much of the dead skin cells and oil off your skin.
• Use the proper soap, and don’t scrub too hard. Use a pH neutral or balanced soap will help keep your skin slightly alkaline, which helps prevent the spread of very bad acne.
• Eat a good diet. While some will debate different research that has been done on the subject, it’s always a good idea to eat well. Studies have shown that while chocolate in itself (as in pure chocolate) will not cause bad acne, many foods that include chocolate (think candy, etc.) are high glycemic foods made with simple carbohydrates and can possibly be a factor in acne development.

Post Emergence Treatments

Since even the best bad acne treatments won’t prevent all pimples and zits from appearing, here are a few different treatments that you can use after bad acne appears:

• Benzoyl Peroxide Creams – This is a bactericidal used in many topical creams, usually in concentrations from 2-10%. It can cause dry skin and irritation, but is also very effective in treating bad acne.
• Topical Retinoids – These are derivitives of vitamin A, and are used to normalize follicle cell lifecycles. Tretinoin (Retin-A), adapalene (Differin), and and tazarotene (Tazorac) are three common topical retinoids.
• Isotretinoin – Also a vitamin derivative known under the names Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, Clarus, and Amnesteem. These are oral medication and are usually taken over a 4-6 month period to get rid of bad acne
• Natural Bad Acne Remedies – Sulfur, Tea Tree Oil, and Zinc are three popular techniques that can be used.

Bad Acne Scars

If you have bad acne scars, then you are best to first discuss your options with a dermatologist. You will need to first get rid of your current bad acne if you want to have the scars treated, and a dermatologist will obviously be able to help you do that as quickly as possible. The following treatments are common to get rid of bad acne scars:

• Dermabrasion
• Laser Resurfacing
• Chemical Peels
• Punch Techniques
• Subcision
• Augmentation
• Saline Injections

Remember that each person’s scars are different, so just because a certain treatment worked for your friend does not mean that they will work for you. Before you try any procedure study your options, and check out bad acne pictures of people before and after the treatment so you have an idea of what can be accomplished.
