Skin Care Cream Ingredients
For getting rid of wrinkles you have several options, but a good skin care moisturizer cream will have a few key ingredients:
Retinol
Retinol is a compound derived from Vitamin A, and is an antioxidant used to fight against the free radicals that attack the collagen in your skin and cause wrinkles. Retinol is effective in reducing wrinkles, but is classified as a ‘cosmetic’ by the FDA.
Tretinoin
Tretinoin, which is essentially a more potent Vitamin A compound than Retinol, is classified as a ‘drug’ by the FDA. Tretinoin is a more effective skin care anti wrinkle cream than Retinol, but required a prescription because it is classified as a drug by the FDA. It is generally used to treat acne, but has also been proven to increase the levels of collagen in the skin and thus reduce wrinkles as well. Tretinoin will lighten the skin, and replace older skin cells with newer (more beautiful) ones.
Peptides
Peptides, commonly copper peptides, help wounds heal more effectively. They also increase collagen production in the skin and are included in many care cream skin products.
Hydroxy Acids
Hydroxy Acids are an exfoliant, and essentially remove the top layer of your skin, allowing the newer, healthier skin underneath to grown and develop. If your skin care cream includes Hydroxy Acids (or any variation, like alpha hydroxy acids or beta hydroxy acids) then be sure to wear sunscreen, as your skin will be more prone to sun damage.
There are also natural skin care creams that are derived purely from herbs, roots, and other agents that are found naturally on the earth. No chemicals are used in the production of natural skin care cream, and many people actually make these at home with their own ingredients. Some common ingredients include: shea butter, beeswax, aloe vera, chamomile, and witch hazel. And, these ingredients are often mixed to create a combination specifically designed for an individuals needs. However, natural skin care creams can also be purchased in almost any beauty store or even grocery store across the United States.
Of course, which skin care cream you choose should be a choice that is made between you and a professional dermatologist. They will be able to tell you if a cosmetic, prescription, or natural skin care cream will be best for you.
