A good daily facial treatment is a well-rounded treatment that includes facial treatments for problems caused by acne, aging, and the sun. Most of this treatment will occur in your own home with many facial treatment products that you buy OTC.

Home Facial Treatment

A good daily home facial treatment starts with proper washing of your skin. You need to wash carefully and you the correct products. Be very careful not to be abrasive when washing. You want to be as gentle as possible so you don’t irritate your skin. To accomplish this, use your hands to wash (not a washcloth) and use a neutral pH based cleanser.

You should wash your face twice daily, once when you wake up and once before you go to sleep. Try not to over wash, as you are more likely to end up just aggravating your facial skin and causing problems. Where this can be hard is if you are an athlete and work out during the middle of the day. Obviously, you will need to shower afterwards, so just be sure to be extra gentle when washing.

While good acne care is obviously most important for teenagers, acne can and will reoccur throughout everyone’s lifetime—and everyone needs to be conscious of how they are taking care of there skin in order to prevent wrinkles later on in life. Fortunately, there is some overlap in both an acne facial treatment and a face wrinkle treatment. Certain Vitamin-A extracts are effective treatments for both acne and wrinkles. These products are retinol and tretinoin (the latter being a prescription drug while the former can be purchased OTC).

Of course, if you have more severe cases of acne, then you are probably going to be more concerned about that and will want to use certain facial treatment creams to get rid of acne first. These creams will usually include some type of benzoyl peroxide cream.

Finally, a good facial treatment cannot be missing a good moisturizer. Many people will use a good moisturizer cream that also can help prevent wrinkles and replenish the skin, making it smooth, silky, and beautiful.

Facial Scar Treatment

Unfortunately, skin treatment creams and other measure may not prevent all facial problems, such as scarring and other permanent damage. For these cases, laser facial treatment may be a good option that has been growing in popularity since the late 1990’s. Laser facial treatments are generally done using very specific lasers (usually a CO2 or an Er:YAG laser) to resurface your skin. When done properly by a trained and experienced doctor, laser scar treatments can be very effective at removing older layers of skin and allowing newer, more beautiful skin appear and minimize the appearance of older scars.
